Know When to Shhhh....
I think it's in the Bible where it says children should be seen and not heard. Today I'm going to extend that advice to those of you currently (or about to be) selling your home. The reality is that most of us are not trained salespeople. We don't have the years of experience and smooth savvy of "Big Tom Callahan". We have encouraged sellers in the past to allow their real estate professionals to handle the showings and the subsequent questions. I'd like to share a few items today that might help keep you out of trouble if your agent is not around and you're stuck talking with those potential buyers.

The year 2020 was certainly out of the ordinary, and for many, filled with personal pain. In our company, we experienced all kinds of emotions and at all different times – and sometimes in just a minute! The real estate market in New Hampshire was strong starting in the spring, and continued strong through 2020. It was a year that brought new business protocols and an influx of buyers unlike anything we had seen before.
To celebrate the highlights of the year, we gathered virtually in early February to recognize our agents and staff. This year the applause was over the speaker of the computer, but the smiles and exuberating of our team was as loud as ever.
In 2020, we recorded grand total, gross sales in excess of $208 million dollars, according to statistics from the Northern New England Real Estate Network. (Based on data from the New England Real Estate Network, grand total gross sales, NH & VT, all categories for time period 1/1/2020-12/31/2020.)
We distributed over $20,000 to area organizations including: AHEAD, Boys and Girls Club of the North Country, Franconia Ski Club, Holderness Historical Society, Littleton Regional Healthcare, Squam Lakes Association & Many More!
At the end of the award ceremony, we awarded the "Peabody & Smith Realty Residential Sales Associate of 2020" to Beth Horan. Beth has been with the firm for over 20 years and works in the Franconia office and services clients and customers in the North Country.
We also recognized the top agents for each office, and with that, we recognized the following agents:

Your Year-Round Yard
Honestly, I do feel bad for the folks who are dangerously cold, without power or water or generally unable to handle frigid temperatures. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. But for the rest of the Texans (and others below the Mason Dixon) I can't help but chuckle to hear their stories of horror and dismay that the temperature dropped below 80 degrees! For those of us born and bred in the northeast, we know a thing or two about cold.
My coldest day on ski patrol at Loon Mountain was 28 degrees below zero. We didn't take too many runs that day, but we completed our sweeps and even helped a few injured folks off the slopes. I actually rode the gondola with a guy who paid for a full-priced ticket! It turned out he was on vacation and was determined to ski regardless of the weather. I was proud of him.

State of Luxury Real Estate Released by Luxury Portfolio International
Luxury Portfolio International recently released their newest study, "State of Luxury Real Estate", focused on consumers in the top 1%-5% income bracket of 17 countries, representing more than 30 million households. It was conducted by the Affluent Consumer Research Company, a full-service market research and voice-of-the-customer organization, specializing in high-income and high-asset consumers around the world.
