NORTH CONWAY, NH — Malcolm Badger grew up visiting his grandfather Dick's office at Badger Realty in North Conway, and as a new sales agent for Badger Peabody & Smith Realty, continues the family legacy.

Badger grew up in Jackson, graduated from Kennett High School, and spent a gap year as a teaching assistant at the International School Ikast-Brande in Denmark. He graduated cum laude from George Washington University in Washington DC, in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and a Minor in Business Administration.

Badger began working at the North Conway real estate office as support staff and recently transitioned to the position of sales associate.

"It means a lot to me to work in this building where my grandpa was so well respected and so instrumental in the growth of the real estate industry in this region," says Malcolm. "Professionally, this is a huge opportunity. I know the area well and have the connections that will serve our clients better. I see a great future for the company and I'm grateful to be part of it."

"Malcolm brings a level of enthusiasm and a detailed knowledge of the business and the region," says Brendan Battenfelder, Vice-President of Sales for Badger Peabody & Smith and the managing broker at the North Conway office. "He comes from a family that is synonymous with the growth of real estate in our region and the state, if not the nation. He sets a tremendously high standard of excellence for himself and it translates well in serving our clients & customers."

The company encourages mentorships to support new staff and Battenfelder notes that Badger is in good hands under the guidance of broker associates Diane McGregor and Kathleen Sullivan Head. "We're more than colleagues here," he says. "We're close-knit, more like a family, and we offer lots of support to our staff."

"We are so pleased to have Malcolm transition to his new position as a sales agent, in the tradition of Dick Badger and Badger Realty," says Andy Smith, President of Badger Peabody & Smith Realty. "I know his grandfather would be tremendously proud of him working with a new generation of clients and customers. We are pleased to have him at our North Conway and Jackson offices."

HOLDERNESS, NH — Eric Turchon, a new sales agent in the Holderness office of Badger Peabody & Smith Realty, admits that he is a "work hard, play hard" type of agent.

A resident of the Granite State since 2007, he has embraced "its authentic lifestyle and its many recreational opportunities," like boating on Squam Lake, snowboarding at Loon Mountain and hiking all 48 4,000 footers. "I love sharing my passion and knowledge of the area with my clients." he says.

Turchon graduated with a business degree from Plymouth State University. He gained years of valuable sales and customer service experience working as a buyer/manager in the snow sports industry. His background as a freelance photographer has also been an asset to his real estate career bringing "a creative element to my workflow."

Turchon was previously a successful agent at another real estate company, but joined Badger Peabody & Smith Realty after sitting down with Andy Smith, the company's President, and listening to his business philosophy. "I wanted to join a firm that has a reputation for results but also values elements like caring and consistency and giving back to the community, as well as accountability," he says. "That appeals to me."

"We're delighted to welcome Eric to the Badger Peabody & Smith team," says Smith. "His strong background in real estate and customer service and his in-depth knowledge of the Holderness and the surrounding region are invaluable qualities that will benefit our buyers and sellers."

We Recognize Our Peabody & Smith Realty Agents & Staff!

The year 2020 was certainly out of the ordinary, and for many, filled with personal pain. In our company, we experienced all kinds of emotions and at all different times – and sometimes in just a minute! The real estate market in New Hampshire was strong starting in the spring, and continued strong through 2020. It was a year that brought new business protocols and an influx of buyers unlike anything we had seen before.

To celebrate the highlights of the year, we gathered virtually in early February to recognize our agents and staff. This year the applause was over the speaker of the computer, but the smiles and exuberating of our team was as loud as ever.

In 2020, we recorded grand total, gross sales in excess of $208 million dollars, according to statistics from the Northern New England Real Estate Network. (Based on data from the New England Real Estate Network, grand total gross sales, NH & VT, all categories for time period 1/1/2020-12/31/2020.)

We distributed over $20,000 to area organizations including: AHEAD, Boys and Girls Club of the North Country, Franconia Ski Club, Holderness Historical Society, Littleton Regional Healthcare, Squam Lakes Association & Many More!

At the end of the award ceremony, we awarded the "Peabody & Smith Realty Residential Sales Associate of 2020" to Beth Horan. Beth has been with the firm for over 20 years and works in the Franconia office and services clients and customers in the North Country.

We also recognized the top agents for each office, and with that, we recognized the following agents:

Bretton Woods, NH Office: Michele Penner

Littleton, NH Office: Nikki Barrett

Plymouth, NH Office: Missy Sullivan

Holderness, NH Office: Jerrod Mitchell

Other awards included:

Highest Overall Customer Satisfaction Rating in 2020 – this award is compiled from all of our returned surveys – Fran Mattott was awarded this with the highest overall customer satisfaction rating. Congratulations to our team and thank you to our clients and customers – it has been our pleasure to work with all of you and we look forward to assisting you in the future!

Doug-Caulfield_for-webAll of us at Peabody & Smith Realty are pleased to welcome Doug Caulfield to our dedicated team of agents! With a background in the arts, and time spent as a home renovator, he is a welcome addition to our offices. Currently Doug is working out of our Littleton office, where he has been working with his mentor, Diane Johnson. Doug is not a stranger to the area, as he has spent the last fourteen years here in the North Country, where his last professional endeavor was owner of a local art gallery in Sugar Hill, the Bowen Brook Art Center. Doug grew up in New England and graduated from Syracuse & Central Connecticut State Universities before heading to the Pacific Northwest where he began his real estate career. We are familiar with Doug, as he has purchased and renovated a number of area homes. Here at Peabody & Smith, we have a strong mentoring program for new agents. Diane has been mentoring Doug, so he has really gotten to see how the real estate process works from inquiries, to listings, offers, contracts and closings. Doug is licensed here in New Hampshire, but he also passed his Vermont Real Estate exam also, so he'll be able to help clients and customers in both states. With three kids, and a busy career, Doug is busy – however in his spare time, he serves on the Board of Directors of The Children's House in Littleton – a wonderful Montessori preschool. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and they enjoy hiking and other activities of the area. Sometimes you can find Doug out on the area golf courses too!

Tom-Carstens_for-webWe are so pleased to welcome Tom Carstens to the Peabody & Smith Realty team. For almost a decade, Tom has been involved in the local real estate market as a Sales Associate, and is now bringing his experience to us. He will be working out of our Littleton office located at 11 Riverglen Lane. Tom earned his New Hampshire Real Estate license in 2001, after moving to the area from Minnesota to be closer to his son and granddaughter. He originally hails from the midwest, and worked as an engineer and operations manager in the food and beverage industry. Tom and I had lunch together today and we talked about what he likes about real estate. "What's your favorite part of real estate Tom?" I said. He answered, "I have a sweet spot for selling and showing land parcels. I enjoy taking customers onto the land, showing them around and giving them ideas of where a house could be placed." Its always fun to ask someone what they like and watch their face light up! Tom went on to explain how he was the general contractor in the building of his own log home a decade ago in Littleton and how he cares for his seven acres of land the home it sited on. Great lunchtime conversation. In the winter, Tom can be found working as a handler for his son Matt Carstens at sled dog races from Minnesota, to Maine and Quebec! Tom is a great addition to our team of agents. Like everyone at Peabody & Smith, he knows the area, he understands the real estate market, and he is a great resource for sellers and buyers. And if you have questions on how to build a log home, he's your guy!

Missy_SullivanWe are thrilled to announce that we have expanded more in our Plymouth NH Office and we recently welcomed Missy Sullivan, a veteran Real Estate agent as a Sales Associate. Missy has had a real estate license for eighteen years, and began actively practicing for the past five years. Missy is a Plymouth NH native, and is knowledgeable about the area as a whole. Like our other agents in the office, Missy has a strong understanding of the schools, recreation opportunities, and more for buyers who may be relocating to the Plymouth area. Our Plymouth office at 85 Main Street, now has four full time agents, and one licensed administrative professional. We are looking to grow further in the Plymouth area, and continue to assist our new and existing clients." Personally, Missy was a cheerleading coach for 12 years at both Plymouth Regional and Newfound High School. She says she can now be "a cheerleader for her listings to help get them sold!" She is married and has two teenagers. Missy can be reached by phone in Plymouth at 238-6990 or using her direct line at the "Push to Talk" button below. Missy can also be reached by email at Our direct lines, for our Plymouth and St. J offices are set up to ring at their desks, then at their cell phone, so they are available anytime. Welcome Missy! We're thrilled to have you on the Peabody & Smith Realty team!   Posted by: Chrissy Smith
