littleton nh real estateIf you have recently purchased a beautiful piece of Littleton NH real estate, you should consider adopting the Do It Yourself (DIY) ethos. Everyone who moves into a house will have some sort of repair job on the docket that you may want to take on yourself - a little sweat equity project. Let's take a look at some tips for DIY interior painting. Before you begin painting the interior of your home, you should understand that each paint finish has its own unique advantages. High gloss paints are easy to clean and very durable. Yet they will embellish any surface's imperfections. So, use a flat paint on old walls with uneven surfaces, dents and other blemishes. It'll mask imperfections, yet it has the potential to cause more damage than high gloss paint. In between these two types is eggshell. It's a happy medium that is suitable for a wide variety of surfaces. Choosing the perfect color is one of your most difficult challenges. While color will go a long way in shaping the room's aesthetic, you shouldn't be scared away by its potential. Don't opt for a plain white. Color will add much needed texture and depth to your living space. Most retailers will sell you a sample can so you can test it out in your home. Remember, you can always paint over the color that you initially choose in case it turns out to be less appealing that you anticipated. When purchasing your paint, be sure that you've written down your room's square footage. You'll also need to consider priming the walls and whether you'll need several coats to get the job done. Once you've figured out all of these details, you will know exactly how much paint to purchase. Before you start painting, be sure to clean off your walls. This way, they'll be as flat as possible and there won't be any debris or dust remaining that could cause the paint to peel.
