As you can see from the photos, at the time I took these, the foliage was just about peak and it was so beautiful.

The second floor was also getting put into place – and these beams are extremely heavy! So they were bringing in the big guns. They not only had a lift to put up some of the smaller beams but they had a crane on site as well to help with the placement of the larger and heavier beams. It was an "all hands on deck" moment.

Back in the fall when I took these photos, the timber frames were being put in place, and it's really exciting to see the plans coming to life! I wish the pictures that accompany this post could do this justice. The foliage was truly breathtaking. I think everyone agrees that it was one of the most vibrant foliage seasons in years. We lucked out and didn't have any leftover hurricanes blow through until the very end so the foliage stayed. Lots of reds, and we were all worried with the lack of rain there wouldn't be much of a foliage season, but it worked out very well. In these photos, the first floor Timbers were being put in place. This is a true timber frame home. They have been precision milled and there will be no nails or glue. Our office in Littleton is also an old Timber frame and there are just wooden pegs. The beams are very old and extremely dense - we need a hammer to even put in a tack. It's a pretty office with the exposed timbers and we believe (have n...
Welcome to Chapter 8 of the epic home-building saga: Building Rockwood. The photos below are from mid-September, and obviously the house has progressed immensely since then! But, I am very much a summer person, and must say, I remember this day very well. It was a crisp, blue-sky day and unseasonably warm. The gentleman that are building this beautiful home have gotten used to me showing up and they try to scatter so they are not in the pictures - usually they do pretty well. But I assure you the weather that day was warm enough that they needed water to keep cool and hydrated through the day. The entire exterior of this home will have the Zip system - a water proof plywood. It will be used on the entire exterior, as well as the roof, too. It provides added protection during the construction process to keep the home watertight and preserves the natural beauty of the exposed timbers. All of the seams and joints get taped with a rubber membrane for an even tighter constru...
This epic home-building journey started back in July, with the first installation: "Building a New Home in Ledgewood". If you're just joining us, I encourage you to take a moment and see how far things have really come since Summer 2016.

With the foundation finished, construction crews are ready to lay the radiant flooring.[/caption]
Real progress is happening and things are taking shape at 100 Beechwood Drive in Twin Mountain, NH. I often will post pictures to social media from different locations – by the lake, in the mountains with the caption "the view from my office today". And let me just say every time I come to this home site I am awestruck with the beauty. This has to be quite simply one of the most beautiful locations in the North Country. Almost the entire view is all National Forest so it will be preserved forever.
Today, the foundation is poured and they are prepping for the radiant floor in the garage and lo...
