Having the ability to close my door and meet with or speak to clients is pretty amazing, I must say! My office is my own private space and I have it filled with my own personal things that mean a great deal to me. My barn board walls are covered with various Squam Lake maps and a smaller version of the entire lakes region. I've been enamored with maps since a young age so I'm happy to be surrounded by them on a daily basis. My favorite thing on my desk is actually from my desk at home. It's a birthday card that I bought at least twenty years ago and has sometimes been used as a coaster. Still, the poem so resonates with me that I have never used the card for its intended purpose and I sometimes carry it with me as a reminder. Lately, it's been with me at the Franconia office where my very favorite "things" are all those who work with me. A bunch of smarty pants, they are, every single last one of them! IMGdesk_20160216_111215783As I take in all that is in my desk, it occurs to me how central this rather small, 24x36 inch surface is central to virtually everything I do in real estate. Of course there is the usual clutter: coffee cups, weeks old post it notes, folders waiting to be properly filed and more pens and pencils than I could ever possibly use. Periodically, these are cleared away and the essential items always remain. Of these, the computer is always there and as with the lights, it is always turned on when I am at my desk. The other essential tools always at hand are my calendar and planner.
