My favorite thing on my desk is actually from my desk at home. It's a birthday card that I bought at least twenty years ago and has sometimes been used as a coaster. Still, the poem so resonates with me that I have never used the card for its intended purpose and I sometimes carry it with me as a reminder. Lately, it's been with me at the Franconia office where my very favorite "things" are all those who work with me. A bunch of smarty pants, they are, every single last one of them! So the conversations are always that much more stimulating, the laughter that much more heartier, and the camaraderie that much more deep.
I'd like to share this poem with you and there really isn't anything more that I could add.

As I take in all that is in my desk, it occurs to me how central this rather small, 24x36 inch surface is central to virtually everything I do in real estate. Of course there is the usual clutter: coffee cups, weeks old post it notes, folders waiting to be properly filed and more pens and pencils than I could ever possibly use. Periodically, these are cleared away and the essential items always remain.
Of these, the computer is always there and as with the lights, it is always turned on when I am at my desk. The other essential tools always at hand are my calendar and planner. Scheduling appointments, arranging showings and meeting deadlines can be a bit overwhelming at times, and I try to keep my schedule in several places. It feels good to work for a company that enjoys giving! Sometimes it's giving a donation to an area non-profit, donating our time for a service project, and sometimes we give personally to help someone in our own company who may be going through a difficult time – that could mean a monetary donation, or a meal prepared for them. For many years, we have made annual donations to AHEAD - Affordable Housing Education and Development. These donations help AHEAD support their mission of developing and providing quality affordable rental housing, financial education, and home ownership opportunities in our communities in Northern & Central New Ham...
You might look at these pictures and think, "There is NO WAY her desk looks like this!" I assure you, 95% of the time it does. I'm a Type A personality and I have lists of lists and organization is something that comes naturally to me and is something that helps me be a great agent.
As most Americans, we spend much of our time working. I joke that I see my work "family" more than my real family, but it's true! While not all of our time is spent in the office at our desks, a good portion is. I am at ease in my office surrounded by things that remind me why I do my job – thank you notes and cards from past customers and clients; comical signs that make me smile when it's been "one of those days"; and of course the important things that help me keep on track and stay organized: calendar, IPad, phones (yes, cell ph... We love to start the year with a party as we enjoy recognizing the hard work of our agents and staff! This year was no exception as we celebrated our Peabody & Smith Realty team on Saturday, January 23rd at the Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, NH. The day started with a training seminar with David Knox. For the last 27 years, David has presented more than 3,000 seminars, to a half million people, in seven countries. He helps professionals in the real estate industry master their skills in sales & negotiation. He has been ranked as a top presenter at the last 25 National Association of Realtors conventions and we were really excited to have him live and in person – even after a flight delay! After David's great presentation, we enjoyed dinner in the Lake View room at the resort, and then shared a few highlights o...
