Nestled in the heart of New Hampshire's White Mountains, the Franconia ArtWalk is more than just a scenic stroll—it's a vibrant celebration of creativity, community, and culture. This self-guided outdoor exhibition transforms the charming town of Franconia into an open-air gallery, inviting visitors to explore art in all its forms while surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty.

A Walk Through History and Creativity:

The Franconia ArtWalk began as a grassroots initiative to enrich the town's cultural landscape and support local artists. Thanks to the support of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts,  the Franconia ArtWalk has grown into a seasonal showcase of sculptures, mosaics, paintings, ceramics, and interactive installations. It runs annually from July through Columbus Day Weekend, offering a dynamic and ever-changing experience for residents and tourists alike

But the Franconia ArtWalk isn't just about contemporary art—it's also a journey through Franconia's rich history. Along the route, visitors encounter historic landmarks like:

The Stone Iron Furnace (built in 1801–1802), the only surviving post-Revolutionary War iron smelting furnace in New Hampshire.

The Abbie Greenleaf Library, constructed in 1912, featuring original stained glass windows and mosaic floors.

The Dow Academy Clock Tower, a Georgian Revival structure rebuilt in 1903 and lovingly restored in 2013

These sites serve as powerful reminders of Franconia's industrial and cultural heritage, seamlessly blending past and present.

Art in Every Corner:

The Franconia ArtWalk winds through downtown Franconia, crossing the Hillwinds Bridge, passing the Dow Academy, and meandering along the Gale River. Each stop offers something unique—whether it's a whimsical sculpture tucked into a garden, a mural brightening a brick wall, or a ceramic installation that invites interaction.

The walk is designed to be accessible and friendly for all ages, making it a perfect outing for art lovers, history buffs, and nature enthusiasts alike. Whether you're a local or a visitor, the Franconia ArtWalk offers a fresh perspective on Franconia with every step.

Get Involved:

The Franconia ArtWalk thrives on community involvement. Artists, volunteers, and sponsors are all welcome to contribute to this evolving project. Whether you're interested in exhibiting your work, helping with installations, or simply spreading the word, there are many ways to support this creative endeavor.
