With sorrow, we announce the passing of Jack Armstrong. Jack was a long time real estate agent, appraiser and Realtor, known for his keen knowledge of Squam Lake and most recently a member of the Peabody & Smith family. Jack passed away on January 18th. Jack was a long time member of the real estate community in Central, New Hampshire. He took over New Hampshire Colonials from his mother, Mary, and ran the successful firm along with his wife Dana for decades. As a professional real estate agent and appraiser, Jack's knowledge of the lake was tremendous - he knew every inlet, island, house and all the people. Personally, Jack was well liked by all who encountered him and were lucky enough to be part of his world. Jerry Love, a long time agent who worked under Jack and Dana recently said to me, "He was a gentle spirit. For me, he was an employer who became my close friend." I can say the same. I knew Jack for over twenty years, as our professional paths often crossed each other. Perso...
We are pleased to welcome Vince Bell to our team of agents at our Franconia, NH office.
Vince is not new to real estate, as he has been a long time property manager in Central New Hampshire, and currently owns his own property management firm.
For us, we've known Vince for a number of years as both a client and professionally as a property manager. He's conscientious and consumer focused - we know those traits will serve him well at Peabody & Smith Realty.
Vince grew up in Maine and attended college at Plymouth State University where he studied accounting and was on the ski and baseball teams. He has managed ski shops, sporting goods stores, ran his own bike shop, and was a property manager. If you have kids that play sports in Northern NH, you have probably seen Vince at soccer a...
Welcome to Chapter 8 of the epic home-building saga: Building Rockwood. The photos below are from mid-September, and obviously the house has progressed immensely since then! But, I am very much a summer person, and must say, I remember this day very well. It was a crisp, blue-sky day and unseasonably warm. The gentleman that are building this beautiful home have gotten used to me showing up and they try to scatter so they are not in the pictures - usually they do pretty well. But I assure you the weather that day was warm enough that they needed water to keep cool and hydrated through the day. The entire exterior of this home will have the Zip system - a water proof plywood. It will be used on the entire exterior, as well as the roof, too. It provides added protection during the construction process to keep the home watertight and preserves the natural beauty of the exposed timbers. All of the seams and joints get taped with a rubber membrane for an even tighter constru...
This epic home-building journey started back in July, with the first installation: "Building a New Home in Ledgewood". If you're just joining us, I encourage you to take a moment and see how far things have really come since Summer 2016.
