Spring Hiking Guide: Waterfalls of the White Mountains | Badger Peabody & Smith RealtyBetween warmer temperatures and spring's wet weather, White Mountain's many waterfalls are at their most impressive during this time of year. Our real estate agents often visit these places for some much-needed downtime after work. Here are some of the waterfall locations near our Plymouth homes for sale that they find themselves coming back to year after year.

  • Ripley Falls - Crawford Notch State Park, Bartlett, NH 03812
Ripley Falls offers a unique look at how waterfalls behave when they have few drops to interrupt their flow. Parts of this 100-foot landmark near our Bartlett homes for sale are closer to water slides than true falls, providing exciting opportunities to get close to the rushing water on the surrounding cliff face. You can reach it in a little more than 15 minutes, starting at the Ethan Pond trailhead in Crawford Notch. This short path can be tricky for inexperienced hikers due to the steep and rocky terrain, so make sure you have some sturdy footwear on to handle the climb.

  • Diana's Baths - 3872 W. Side Road, North Conway, NH 03860
Perhaps, unsurprisingly, given their name, Diana's Baths are much more serene than many of the other waterfalls on this list. These falls are right around the corner from many of our North Conway homes for sale and can be accessed using a beginner-friendly half-mile trail that connects to a paid parking lot. The falls themselves flow serenely from Lucy Brook across a long stretch of cliffs and slopes, pooling in several spots along the way. Some sections are even quiet and shallow enough to wade in, making the prospect of an excursion here even more exciting.

  • Franconia Falls - Lincoln, NH 03251
Franconia Falls may lack some of the drama of the bigger waterfalls you'll find in the region, but it more than makes up for that with its relaxed atmosphere and easy accessibility. Found at the end of a trail that begins at the Lincoln Woods trailhead and continues more than 5 miles up the Pemigewasset River, these gentle falls take some time to reach. Luckily, you'll spend most of that time walking on unobstructed level ground. Reach the farthest point to watch Franconia Brook roll its way through several hundred meters of pebbled pools, cascades, and short drops.

  • Avalanche Falls - 852 Daniel Webster Highway, Lincoln, NH 03251
Avalanche Falls is a nearly 50-foot waterfall located between the better-known Liberty Gorge and Flume Gorge. This majestic spot near our Lincoln homes for sale gets its name from the constant cascade of white water gushing down the rocks. The falls make great subjects for nature photos, and the paths and walkways littered around the site make it easy to capture them from many different angles. You can purchase tickets to the Flume Gorge attraction for $18 per person online.

  • Sabbaday Falls - Waterville Valley, NH 03259
With its smooth, rounded rocks and convenient steps and walkway, Sabbaday Falls almost looks like a theme park attraction. It takes about 15 minutes of uphill hiking to reach the falls from the road, making this an easy pit stop for anyone traveling near our Waterville Valley homes for sale. Step onto the raised wooden bridge that stretches across the water and watch as the stream rushes through the rocky gorge.

Visiting natural wonders like these gorgeous waterfalls is easy when you live in the White Mountains area. Contact us today to begin looking for a home where you can enjoy this incredible scenery all year long.
