11 Darling Road in Woodsville has been sold. However, we have many others to browse on our website at www.peabodysmith.com/searches/new
We are pleased to bring a new feature to our blog, a chat with one of our home owners who is selling their property in Woodsville, NH.
Our homeowners at
11 Darling Road in Woodsville, a precinct of
Haverhill, NH. They've owned this property for over a decade and now offer this well maintained and updated single-level home to you – they hope you love it as much as they have.
To get a sense of what is like to live in Woodsville & Haverhill, we asked a few questions:
P&S: At this time, you feel the time is right to leave the scenic Haverhill & Woodsville community. What led you to this decision?
Sellers: We recently were given an opportunity that will allow us to relocate to a different region of the country. We have always been the type to jump at the chance of exploring somewhere new, it's what brought us here over 11 years ago!
P&S: Why is it great to live in the Woodsville area? What did you enjoy about this area in the Connecticut River Valley and the Northern part of the Upper Valley.
Sellers: We've loved our central location. From our house, it's 50 minutes to West Lebanon, which offers great shopping at big-name stores and businesses, 25 minutes to
Littleton with all its small-town charm and shops and only 35 minutes to
Franconia and the heart of the White Mountains with its breathtaking landscape.
P&S: Where do you shop and dine in Woodsville community and why do you enjoy those places?
Sellers: Luckily, right in town we have the convenience of a Super Walmart and a Shaw's grocery store. Within a 10-15 minute drive, we also have a number of local farmers.
We love going to
Four Corners Farms in Newbury, VT for the fresh (and delicious!) produce as well as pick-your-own strawberries and blueberries.
Hatchland Dairy has a year-round store right up the road and they have the most amazing ice cream and chocolate milk around.
For a bite to eat, we enjoy going to the Bath and Woodsville locations of
The Little Grille -- they have great burgers and onion rings!
Another place at which we are regulars is the
Newbury Village Store, they have everything from good coffee and conversation to pizza and sandwiches.
We used to go to Slick's nearby for ice cream, but for this coming summer season of 2018,
Slick's Ice Cream has relocated and won't be as close by as they were. As fun as it was having ice cream right next door, we are looking forward to a reduced waistline and quiet seclusion as the property owner does not intend to use the location for a commercial purpose.
P&S: What did you look forward to the most when you came to your home in Woodsville?
Sellers: What initially attracted us to the area was the scenery and outdoor activities. We love nature and being able to hike both the White and Green Mountains has been a fantastic experience.
Another aspect we looked forward to was living in a small community, this has been a very positive experience for us. The smaller community has been beneficial especially the
Woodsville Elementary School-- with small class sizes and a more personalized learning experience for our kids.
P&S: What cultural events and other types of events can you recommend to people coming into the community?
Sellers: Things we love to do locally and wish we had found out about sooner are all the places to "pick your own."
Windy Ridge Orchard is our absolute favorite with apple picking. Once fall arrives you can stop up there any weekend for a lot of fun! Going there has become a tradition with its apples, cider and doughnuts.
They have lots of things for the kids to do as well, our kids' favorite is the tractor ride where the carts resemble little cows. During July there is also the
North Haverhill Fair, which is a five-day old-fashioned country fair with lots of entertainment for kids and adults. Everything from concerts to rides!
P&S: What tips would you give to new people coming into the community?
Sellers: Get off the beaten path and explore.
The area is more than the main road that goes through it. We have access to some great local hiking, the
Lone Oak Trail is just a few minutes away, and the climb offers a spectacular view of the Woodsville area. The
Black Mountain and
Blueberry Mountain are also nearby and offer fabulous day hikes.
Drive around and you will find beautiful lakes and scenery. We are also lucky to have direct access to the
Ammonoosuc Rail Trail from our home where you can take your snowmobile, ATV or just go for a walk or bike ride.
P&S: What were the favorite features of your home? What did you enjoy the most?
Sellers: We love many things about our home, but our central air is a feature we definitely appreciate the most during the summer.
On the opposite end, using our wood stove has been a fantastic way to add an extra layer of warmth to those cold winter nights.
Now, if you go ask our kids, you will get a completely different answer! They love our large fenced back yard where they can play and run around with no worries.
Although some of our favorites are the little, unexpected things. The vibrant flowering crabapple tree in June or just sitting on the back porch enjoying the warmth of the morning sun. It's hard to name just one!
