A Chat With Our Home Seller in Ashland, NH

We are pleased to bring a new feature to our blog, a chat with our seller in Ashland, NH. Our homeowners at
613 NH Route 175 in Ashland, NH have owned this property for over 30 years, and now offer this privately situated home just ready for you to finish to your liking.
P&S: Tell us, why did you choose this location in Ashland, NH?
Seller: We wanted to own a place where we could have perfect privacy, surrounded by nature, which always appealed to us. My husband, Bert, wanted to be close to an airport - we owned a private plane at the time. So the close proximity to
Plymouth Regional Airport was a plus. In fact, while I would drive up often times, he would fly up, he'd fly over the land, tip his wings, and that was my signal to drive over to the airport and pick him up!
For me, I wanted to be near a place that offered the feel of a 'city'. With
Plymouth College, now an accredited University, so close by, it would offer us what we felt we needed to keep our minds active and current. Our children were still young at the time and the possibility of using the excellent school system there could have been real. But that did not work out.
P&S: You have a very unique home. At this point, it's just waiting to be finished by a new owner. How did you decide to build on the land?

Seller: The idea of building a retirement home came up eventually. Bert was smitten with the idea of building his dream home. Our future home was to be carefully designed and structurally solid. We checked every 2x4 at the lumberyard for its integrity during the construction of the garage. He also kept fuel economy in mind and calculated the suns angle of infiltration and built the overhang accordingly. It is the kind of shell that would never need to be repaired.
P&S: So at this point, the shell is ready, and you await a buyer who will turn what you have helped create into a special home for them. What are some other things you love about the Ashland area?
Seller: Well, the proximity to the airport is great! In addition, we enjoyed being close to the
White Mountain Country Club. It's just a great community with so many things to do from skiing at
Waterville Valley or
Loon Mountain in the winter, to boating and swimming at
Squam Lake in the summer, or any of the other beautiful lakes. A wonderful four season recreation area!
