    While New Hampshire is home to several covered bridges, the Swiftwater Covered Bridge is one of only a few that date back to the 19th century. The Swiftwater Covered Bridge is recognized as one of the better examples of the distinctive Paddleford truss that was widely used throughout New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine during the 19th century. In 1976, the Swiftwater Covered Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
