Littleton, NH — As has been a tradition for many years, Badger Peabody & Smith Realty has provided support to Affordable Housing Education and Development (AHEAD) in a unique way. The buyers and sellers they work with throughout the year agree to have their escrow funds placed in an interest-bearing account, with 100% of the interest going to AHEAD to support their many housing-related projects to the residents of Grafton and Coos Counties. Why Is My Real Estate Agent Asking Me For Identification When I am Considering Selling a Property?
You may be wondering why your real estate agent has been asking for identification when you are considering listing your property. It's a fair question and one we are pleased to answer.
There have been more and more frequent scams where an alleged scammer (criminal) poses as a seller and engages a real estate agent over the phone to talk about selling a piece of land, house etc. Since so many transactions are done virtually and using the assistance of e-signatures, a person can easily pretend to be a seller, get a property listed and then go about getting the proceeds from the "sale". They do all this, while posing as the seller. In fact, many of them will use an email signature that may even be the sellers name and more. This is a sophisticated scam and to help protect you, we are now asking for sellers to share with us their driver license or another form of identification. It is the only way we can verify you are the real seller. Since so many of the documents we require are publically available, using an ID is the best way we have to protect you. Wings Markets Changes Hands
Wings Markets in Thetford and Fairlee, Vermont recently changed hands. Don and Mary (Wing) Davenport announced the sale of both markets to Sam Adams of Williamstown, VT.
Wings Market was started by Mary's father, Stan, in Thetford in 1954 and has been a family owned and operated business since. Mary worked in the store and eventually purchased the store upon her father's retirement. In 1994 Mary and her husband, Don, purchased some property and opened the Wings Market in Fairlee, Vt in 1995. Both are full-service markets with active delis. The Fairlee location offers gas and diesel as well.
