Whether you use it as a natural sweetener in baking projects or pour it on top of your pancakes, there's nothing like the taste of real maple syrup. If you love this stuff as much as our real estate agents do, get ready—Maine's annual Maple Weekend is coming up on March 23rd and 24th. Why not celebrate with a trip to one of these great maple orchards and sugar shacks?
- Weston's Farm & Markets - 60 River St., Fryeburg, ME 04037
Walking into the small maple grove at Weston's Farm & Markets is like stepping back in time. This little farm near our Fryeburg homes for sale still does everything the old-fashioned way, with almost no help from modern machinery. The owners tap all the trees by hand using nothing more than a bucket and a spigot, then carefully boil the sap down to syrup in their wood-fired evaporator.
The farm will be holding an open house all day on March 24th. During this time, you can participate in several demonstrations and tours, watching the workers make the delicious maple syrup and candy they're known for. Guests can also enjoy free syrup samples on ice cream and pick up handmade goodies at the farm market and gift shop.
- Balsam Ridge - 140 Egypt Road, Raymond, ME 04071
Balsam Ridge is more than just a place to get a fresh-cut tree during the holiday season. This farm near our Raymond homes for sale also has a large and thriving grove of maple trees that they use to produce maple goods year-round.

Before you leave, stop by the farm's sugarhouse to pick up some delicious maple products to take home. You can choose from an assortment of maple sugar treats (including maple candy, fudge, and lollipops) next to some more unusual goodies like maple salsa, maple mustard, maple cream and butter, and even maple smoked cheese.
