We are pleased to bring a new feature to our blog, a chat with one of our current sellers in Whitefield. Our homeowners, Bob & Millie Clifford at 227 Mirror Lake Estates in Whitefield NH have owned their home for many years, and now offer this open concept 3 bedroom, 4 bath home with bright warm wood finishes neatly tucked on 3.78 acres to you. To get a sense of what it is like to live in Whitefield, NH, we asked the Clifford's a few questions:   P&S: At this time, you feel the time is right to leave the beautiful Whitefield community. What led you to this decision? The Clifford's: We have decided it's time to be closer to family and to downsize.   P&S: Why is it great to live in the North Country of NH? What did you enjoy about the Whitefield area? The Clifford's:  The people. The people here are so warm and friendly and welcoming. We will truly miss the community we have become a part of. There is just so much to do here. With all the ski areas, hiking trails, attractions, golf, snowmobiling and more. We are actually more active and busy living here than we were when we were in Southern New Hampshire.   P&S:  What are some of the places you have enjoyed while living here? The Clifford's: Well, when we first bought our home our grand kids were younger and would enjoy Santa's Village, Story Land, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, Clark's Trading Post, The Whale's Tale Waterpark, The Flume & Lost River. They still enjoy the Whale's Tale as they have gotten older. There's a little something for every taste and budget. Building far right is the 1884 Pemigewasset Hook and Ladder Fire Station. //Flickr[/caption] For company, we would always have lots of family visiting. We've had 14 overnight guests at one point so we could all go and enjoy some of these activities as a family. We would hike some of the hundreds of trails in the area with the grandchildren when they were younger and now they come back with their friends to hike and enjoy the area. When we first bought the home it was a second home for us. Family and friends would ask if they could use it if we were not going to be there ourselves. Other places we've enjoyed: we love Attitash Mountain Resort with the alpine coaster, bungee jumping & zip lining - there is plenty for the adrenaline junkies. The golfing is fantastic in the area, there are so many courses close by. When we first moved up here, Bob was a part of the senior golf league and would travel all over Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont. He now enjoys the local golf courses, as do all of us in the family. He loves the golf courses at the Omni Mt Washington Resort. With 27 holes and just simply the most breathtaking views - who wouldn't love it. But we also enjoy two courses in Bethlehem: The Maplewood & Bethlehem Country Club. We also love the Waumbek Golf Course in Jefferson, Sunset Hill Golf Course in Sugar Hill, NH and the St. Johnsbury Country Club. In winter, we love to snowmobile. We can snowmobile right from the house. We've gone on long trips into Maine and even up to the Canadian border. And of course being just minutes from skiing is perfect. We've enjoyed Attitash, Bretton Woods, Cannon Mountain, Waterville Valley & Burke Mountain. It's been nice to have so many options for all skill levels.   P&S:  Where do you shop and dine in the community and why do you enjoy those places? The Clifford's: Oh there are so many. We are just a mile or two from the Mountain View Grand which is just so beautiful. But we are also just as close to the Inn at Whitefield and the Weathervane Theatre. When we have company we are sure to always take them to Bailiwicks on the Main Street in Littleton, and of course Chutters. We really enjoy Grill 111 at the Thayer's Inn. There are so many great little shops in Littleton - Bella Funk Boutique and Pentimento's are always on the list to stop at. Another wonderful restaurant that is always sure to be a hit is Rosa Flamingo's– a  favorite. Another great store - Simon the Tanner in Lancaster. They have a "don't miss it" tent sale around Christmas and over Labor Day weekend. And of course we are so close to the outlet shopping in North Conway and Tilton. When in North Conway, we love to go to Moat Mountain Smoke House & Brewing Company. The Clifford's: The peace and quiet. It is so nice to be able to sit on our farmer's porch or the deck and just listen to the trees rustle in the wind. It truly has been our Mountain retreat. P&S: What cultural events and other types of events can you recommend to people coming into the community? The Clifford's: The Weathervane Theatre in Whitefield. We just loved seeing their production of "A Street Car Named Desire" and we've been told we have to go see Momma Mia! The Colonial Theater in Bethlehem also has some great shows. There are wonderful free concerts right in the town square of Whitefield and Lancaster too.   P&S:  What events brought you the most pleasure? The Clifford's: We have loved all the activities with our family. It's been especially nice to get to share in the activities with the grand kids and to know they loved them so much now that they are older, they bring their friends to share the experiences with them too. We have loved the Lupine Festival in Sugar Hill, The Moose Festival in Colebrook, The Littleton Area Art Festival along with the Episcopal Church Pie Sale on the same day. In Littleton, we've also enjoyed The Harvest festival where they light the jack-o-lanterns on the Ammonoosuc River by the covered bridge. And we can't forget the Holiday Parade that happens the day after Thanksgiving. The Clifford's: Read the local papers. We have especially loved The North Woods Weekly and The Coos County Democrat. They have everything in there - from Church activities to the fairs to social activities. It is the perfect place to look and see what fun activities you can get involved with.   P&S: What were the favorite features of your home? What did you enjoy the most? Millie: I love the open concept kitchen, dining & living room. It's open and light. Guests can still be close and I can cook and entertain and there is room for everyone. With the radiant floors it's so cozy. I usually end up in just a t-shirt and pants in the middle of winter because it's so warm. It's great because the loft area is open and when the kids were really little, they could go up and down the stairs and we could still keep an eye on them but they had their own space. Bob: I love the "man cave" as Millie puts it. Perfect spot to enjoy my morning coffee and read the paper. It's a great space for a huge TV to enjoy all the sporting events. I also love the Jacuzzi tub too. It is a great space to unwind and relax. And the teenagers love the space too - I'm always happy to share when they visit!
