We thought we'd ask some of our agents some common real estate questions that buyers have, and get their answers. Beth Horan from our Franconia office answered this home buyer question:

beth horan1.       Can I move into a home before closing? Beth Horan: Customarily, you should not plan on moving into  a home prior to closing. Closing btw is otherwise known as transfer of title. On occasion if special accommodations are needed then specific language is agreed upon by seller and buyer and then an early move in might be arranged.  However, due to liabilities, neither the seller attorney, buyer attorney, lenders or real estate professionals would suggest it. Generally, the buyer may move into the house once closing has occurred. The new deed in their name must be recorded by their attorney, which typically happens immediately following closing, and the seller has their proceeds. Then, the keys are passed over. We pride ourselves on good communication and avoiding surprises along the way. With careful communication in advance and determining everyone's goal of closing date, move in date, movers arriving and so on, we can typically avoid this needing to happen.
