Cannon Mountain
Cannon Mountain near Franconia offers 282 skiable areas, including 24 miles of trails. The longest run is 2.3 miles, while the steepest drop is 2,180 feet. Roughly half of Cannon Mountain's trails are for intermediate skiers, while a third are for experts and fewer for beginners. You can start skiing here on Nov. 27 and continue through mid-April. Several events take place, including Cannon Homecoming Day on Dec. 5 and Family Fun Nights on Saturdays!
Bretton Woods
Bretton Woods features 464 skiable acres with 62 trails. Roughly a quarter are for beginners, while a third are for intermediate skiers leaving less than half for experts. The mountain has a vertical drop of 1,500 feet, making it an exciting challenge for many skiers. Ski season here officially starts on Nov. 24 and runs through mid-April. Special events in the area include night skiing on Fridays and Saturdays and Powder and Pasta specials that include dinner and night skiing.
Loon Mountain
Loon Mountain near Lincoln has 370 skiable acres. The longest trail stretches for 2.5 miles, while the steepest vertical drop is 2,100 feet. Of the mountain's 61 trails, roughly 60 percent are intermediate, while 20 percent are for expert skiers and 20 percent are for beginners. Ski season starts on Nov. 25 and ends in mid-April. Special events include family-friendly Holiday Week at Loon from Dec. 20 to Dec. 31 and Independence Weekend from Jan. 16 to Jan. 17.
