November
5

As the days continue to grow shorter, the brilliant fall foliage has since faded and fallen. The first blanket of snow is still a few weeks away, but the white capped peaks at the higher elevations serve as a reminder that winter awaits. It is a quiet time in this part of New Hampshire, but that doesn't mean that there aren't numerous activities available for most everyone!

Ray Newton tells us more!

ray newtonNovember can be an excellent time for a short day hike. Rattlesnake Mountain in Holderness is a favorite in the summer, but this time of year, you will miss the crowds and have the trail to yourself. It is a short, relatively easy hike, about an hour round trip. At the top, you will be rewarded with a spectacular southerly view across Squam Lake and beyond. This is the one hike in New Hampshire that has the greatest payoff for the least effort! Other great short, day hikes in the area are Plymouth Mountain in Plymouth and Stinson Mountain in Rumney. The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center in Holderness has ongoing events and educational programs throughout the year.  For a list of events, check the web site at: http://www.nhnature.org/ Plymouth State University in Plymouth offers a host of cultural and athletic events open to the public. The Karl Drerup Art Gallery, located right on campus is an excellent way to spend an autumn afternoon. Take in a theatrical performance or a concert at The Silver Center for the Arts. For more information on events at the University, visit their web site at: http://www.plymouth.edu/. Located at the Plymouth Elementary School Gymnasium. So if you think that this quiet time of year has less to offer in Holderness and Plymouth, I urge you to think again!
