**Update: We are sorry, this fine home has been purchased by a new owner, but we have others!

We are pleased to bring a new feature to our blog, a chat with one of our current sellers at 6 Powder Hill Road in Franconia NH. Our homeowners have owned their home for many years, and now offer this custom built, 4 bedroom cedar home with spectacular views of the sunsets and mountains.

To get a sense of what is like to live in Franconia NH we asked a few questions:

[caption id="attachment_3231" align="alignright" width="300"]franconia nh home 6 Powder Hill Rd in Franconia NH[/caption] P&S: At this time, you feel the time is right to leave the beautiful Franconia community. What led you to this decision? Sellers: Our career paths have recently led us to the West Coast to another mountain range. We were initially torn with the idea of selling our home; however, life is taking us to another part of the country that would limit our travels to New Hampshire. P&S: Why is it great to live in the White Mountain area? What did you enjoy about the Franconia Notch area? Sellers: We have been traveling to this area for over 15 years with our three children to enjoy the numerous outdoor activities- hiking the Franconia Notch trail to Artist's Bluff; learning to ski at Cannon Mountain, ATVing on the back trails at the bottom of Powder Hill Road, swimming and boating on Echo Lake and Squam Lake, Whale's Tale Water Park in Lincoln, and running/walking/biking the bike trails beginning at Echo Lake through the Notch to the Flume Gorge and then Loon Mountain. P&S: Where do you shop and dine in the Franconia community and why do you enjoy those places? [caption id="attachment_3232" align="alignright" width="255"]mt. washington hotel Mt. Washington Hotel[/caption] Sellers: Polly's Pancake Parlor in Sugar Hill is our absolute favorite breakfast restaurant in the country! We are so excited that they will now be open year round. Our favorite dinner places have been: Horse and Hound(3 minutes from our home), Bailliwick's in Littleton, The Adair Inn in Bethlehem and the Inn at Sunset Hill in Sugar Hill. Our Christmas Eve tradition was to dine at the Mt. Washington Hotel and would usually spend time at the Mount Washington Spa sometime during the Christmas Holiday. We also enjoyed various restaurants in Lincoln including The Common Man and Gordi's Fish and Steak House. A day trip to North Conway to shop the outlet stores and go to Zeb's was always a fun day, especially driving through Crawford Notch amongst the Presidential Mountain Range. There are also many quaint shops in Littleton, including Chutters, which has the longest candy counter in the world and a great clothing store, Bella Funk. We always took a trip to Garnet Hill right in Franconia as well! P&S: What did you look forward to the most when you came to your home in Franconia? [caption id="attachment_3233" align="alignright" width="257"]Kitchen at 6 Powder Hill Rd Kitchen at 6 Powder Hill Rd[/caption] Sellers: Our home in Franconia has always been our piece of heaven. The natural beauty that we were a part of in and outside of our home always brought us great pleasure. The mountain views are always present no matter where you are in the home with its many windows. Creating family memories were constant from our annual family hikes to the summit of one of the Presidential mountaintops to celebrating Christmas most of the 10 years that we owned our home. We always cut down our tree at the Rocks Estate in Bethlehem and decorated the house with homemade items. P&S: What cultural events and other types of events can you recommend to people coming into the community? Sellers:   Fourth of July weekend is a great time in Franconia. The small town hosts an annual parade and a duck race along Tuckerbrook; and then has an amazing firework show in Dow Park in the center of town. In the Spring, the Lupine festival is beautiful. My most favorite time of the year is the Fall. The colors are magnificent in all the notches! Our daughters enjoyed taking glider rides at the Franconia Airport which provide amazing views from thousands of feet up in the air. P&S: What events brought you the most pleasure? [caption id="attachment_3235" align="alignright" width="253"]glider Glider[/caption] Sellers: The Christmas holiday brought our whole family pleasure based on our special traditions and the beauty of the snowcapped mountains. We enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing locally and in near towns, such as, Bretton Woods and Lincoln. With Cannon Mountain less than 5 minutes away and a half dozen other ski resorts less than 30 minutes away we always found time to ski. We also enjoyed taking a sleigh ride at the Franconia Inn during the holiday season. P&S: What tips would you give to new people coming into the community? Sellers: The Franconia area offers endless outdoor activities throughout the year particularly summer, fall and winter. There are many planned events, such as, running and bike races; and activities that you can do on your own with the numerous walking/biking trails, ski resorts and swimming. The Appalachian Mountain Club provides excellent guidance for hiking in the summer and we enjoyed utilizing the summer huts for overnight hiking. We enjoyed skiing from late November until March with the many ski resorts accessible from our home. For younger visitors, Santa's Village in Jefferson and Story Land in Glen are each about 40 minutes away and provide a terrific family day. What did you enjoy the most? Sellers: The favorite features of my home included the all cedar exterior, finished woodwork and wood floors in the interior, unique panoramic window in the living room and the large outdoor deck to watch sunsets, dine al fresco, and star gaze. The layout provided privacy when it was our entire extended family or if it was just the two of us. [caption id="attachment_3237" align="alignleft" width="145"]franconia nh home Panoramic view[/caption] As a family, we love movies and enjoyed the downstairs surround sound TV to watch Christmas movies during the holidays or other good movies during the year. We also played many family games downstairs on our game table. In the wintertime, I loved the radiant heat that warmed my toes after a day of skiing or when getting out of a hot shower. Our home is very quiet and peaceful because of the radiant heating system. In the summer the many windows provided excellent mountain air that has kept the home well ventilated and fresh. It truly is a piece of heaven. To learn more about this home at 6 Powder Hill in Franconia, NH please click here.
