This week we thought we'd ask a few probing questions of a staff member. This one is with Chrissy Smith, who works out of our Littleton office. Our roving reporter Elspeth asked the questions:
I am currently reading? I just finished reading
Peyton Place by Grace Metalious. I thought that since it was set in NH, and the term "Peyton Place" is sometimes said in our small towns, I would read the book that made the phrase.
What is your favorite restaurant in the area? I have a few –
Bailliwick's in Littleton, the
Lisbon Village Pizza shop, and
Topic of the Town in Littleton has the best French Toast. I love hot chocolate, so for the best hot chocolate I enjoy going to these places:
Café Monte Alto in Plymouth,
The Squam Lake Marketplace in Holderness,
M-Zo Tea & Company in Littleton and
Maia Papaya in Bethlehem – they all have great hot chocolate!
The people that influenced you the most? My Mom and my Dad. And a lot of great bosses along the way!
Your favorite song? Almost anything by Bruce Springsteen. I'm listening to EStreetRadio now!
Favorite family tradition? Cutting down our Christmas Tree at a local tree farm. That is usually the easy part, the tradition part is when we bring it into the house – when my husband was younger this part sometimes involved the use of a chain saw.
What is your favorite winter activity? Sledding with the kids, skiing, shoveling, snowmobiling. I spend more time outside in the winter than I do in summer!
What do you like to do in your spare time? Reading, cooking, entertaining, spending time with friends and family.
What is your pet peeve? Those who work and live with me know that I have many. They include: food on my plate that touches, traveling north to go south, buying a newspaper and having it read before I read it (I know, the content doesn't change but…), and TV Anchorpeople who refer to law enforcement as "cop" in a serious story.
Do you have a nickname? What is it and how did you get it? My nickname is Chrissy. My real name is Chrisara. My mother invented my name…she thought if she had a girl she liked the name Sara, my father liked the name of Chris for a boy. So my mother combined the two names. But a few years later, when I went to Kindergarten it is reported that I told my teacher my name is "Chrissy" and it stuck.
Do you like coffee or tea? Both
Do you prefer the Ocean or the Mountains? I love the mountains, but feel the need to see the ocean once a year.
What is your ski mountain of choice? I love
Bretton Woods Ski Area &
Cannon Mountain.
