**Update: We are sorry, this fine home has been purchased by a new owner, but we have others! Check out our newest listings from the past 30 days.

We are pleased to bring a feature to our blog, a chat with one of our current sellers in Monroe, NH. Our homeowners at 647 Littleton RD, Monroe NH have owned their home for many years, and now offer this bright, sunny, open, home with 180 degree views of the Connecticut River Valley.

To get a sense of what is like to live in Monroe, NH we asked a few questions:

P&S: At this time, you feel the time is right to leave the beautiful Monroe community. What led you to this decision? Sellers: This was a difficult decision for us! We love this property and the surrounding community, but we made the choice to explore a new path in the interest of benefiting our expanding family and careers. This home has served as our "little slice of heaven" for six years. The home holds many beautiful memories for us. Our departure will certainly be bittersweet. P&S: Why is it great to live in the Monroe area? What did you enjoy about the White Mountains and Monroe NH. Sellers: Monroe is a wonderful town to live in. Not only does it have one of the lowest tax rates in the state but the land is beautiful, the people are friendly and the community is rich in character. We enjoy the peace and serenity of rural living while still being close to the surrounding towns for shopping and dining. If you travel just a bit further you can hit some major cities like Boston and Montreal. [caption id="attachment_3177" align="alignright" width="300"]monroe nh home View of the Connecticut River[/caption] If you enjoy the outdoors, there are endless opportunities for you to bike, hike, ski, snowmobile, swim, boat, hunt and more. Being close to the Connecticut River, there are boat access points and plenty of swimming holes just a stones throw away. In the end it was these things that sold us on the area and the stunning views and structural soundness of the property that sold us on this home. The fact that Monroe also offers residents tuition to the St. Johnsbury Academy, weekly roadside trash pick-up and in town recycling doesn't hurt either! P&S: Where do you shop and dine in the Monroe community and why do you enjoy those places? Sellers: Our location is in excellent proximity to so many small businesses and family owned restaurants all brimming with personality. We are two minutes from route 91 and fifteen minutes from route 93. We are able to easily reach Woodville, St. Johnsbury, Littleton, Bethlehem, Bradford, Franconia and other places in little time. Just two minutes away from this house you have the Barnet Village Store and as of recent the Farm to Fire wood-fired pizza truck makes a weekly visit right to the Monroe Village (yum!).  [caption id="attachment_3178" align="alignright" width="300"]schilling beer co Schilling Beer Co[/caption] One of our favorite food spots would be the Colatina Exit in Bradford (Try the lasagne Bolognese!). We love to stop in Littleton for pizza and craft beer at Schillings, smoked brisket at the Screaming Boar BBQ or avocado tartines and iced herbal tea at M-Zo. We find the most interesting small gifts and trinkets at the Pentimento gift shop and clothes at the Bella Funk Boutique. We also purchase most of our groceries at the Littleton Food Coop. When in Bethlehem we always stop by Maia Papaya for a toasted bagel with jalapeño cream cheese or a pesto melt. In St. Johnsbury we spend time at the Boxcar and Caboose Bookstore and Café. Occasionally we enjoy a night out to Bailiwicks on the Mill. There are so many lovely places we frequent, these are just a few of our favorites. P&S: What do you look forward to the most when you come home? Sellers: We were most excited about being first time home owners and having a place to truly call our own. We viewed numerous houses before finding this home which was the perfect fit. To us it stood out from the others with its low maintenance, structural soundness, large useful outbuildings, spacious yard and excellent location. We were thrilled to have found a place that would provide us with low cost living in a beautiful area close to everything we could possibly need. Sellers: Just down the street, Monroe hosts several small events throughout the year; a 4th of July Parade, block party, craft fair, harvest festival (with a scarecrow contest!), and a Halloween bash to name a few.  We like to view live performances and independent films at either the Colonial Theatre in Bethlehem or Catamount Film and Arts Center in St. Johnsbury. We also enjoy going to the Lancaster Fair and the Sugar Hill Lupine Festival annually. P&S: What events brought you the most pleasure? Sellers: We always look forward to a simple summer afternoon watching a free live concert at the Bethlehem gazebo. Every fall we tour our village to see all of the scarecrow entries in everyone's yard and once in a while we enjoy attending a gallery opening at WREN in Bethlehem. [caption id="attachment_3181" align="alignright" width="300"]monroe nh home The kitchen[/caption] P&S: What tips would you give to new people coming into the community? Sellers: It would not be a bad idea to acquire a boat of any kind being so close to the Connecticut River! Also the fields around this property serve as a hub for an amazing and varied bird population. This includes a few bald eagles and a small family of Sand Hill Cranes you can spot easily from the sunroom windows. There are only a few Sand Hill Cranes in the state of New Hampshire and this famous family has been coming to the field beyond this house for over 10 years now! If you enjoy vegetable gardens but don't have the time to maintain one there is an excellent CSA share program at Meadowstone Farm in Bethlehem. If you are looking to practice a little mindfulness or maybe sign up for some Qigong lessons head over to Karma Choling Meditation Center in Barnet just a few miles away. Or stretch it out at the Balance Bethlehem Yoga center. If you are looking for a fun and different thing to do the Fairbanks Museum has an excellent planetarium! [caption id="attachment_3180" align="alignright" width="300"]monroe nh home The sunroom[/caption] P&S: What were the favorite features of your home? What did you enjoy the most? Sellers: We most enjoy how low maintenance and cost effective this house is. It is so easy to live here. We enjoy the sunny open yard with every nice day we are graced with. We always look forward to picking apples and pears off the fruit trees to bake goodies with each fall. We love the endless beautiful bouquets of flowers we can gather every few days in the summer and spring to place around the house. My husband enjoys spending time in the giant 30x40' heated garage space and small barn out back. He also built a fun retreat for himself in the walkout basement. Our favorite room to spend time in is the large window lined sunroom. It has served as a place for fun family activities, as a bird and wildlife observatory, and a space for quiet time with family. Our favorite part of our journey was making the home itself new and different. We loved reworking the space over time, making numerous improvements and updates, adding eco-friendly and energy saving upgrades and simply building the space up to something we love. Now, we look forward to a new owner, making this special home their own. To learn more about this home for sale in Monroe, NH, please click here.
