108 Merrill Road in Campton, NH[/caption]
We are pleased to bring a feature to our blog, a chat with one of our home sellers in Campton NH. Our homeowners at
108 Merrill Road have owned their home for many years, and now offer this home on over 7.5 acres to you. This home is in one of Campton's premier neighborhood's. This exquisite property has been beautifully cared for, maintained and upgraded over the years and is now being offered to you.
To get a sense of what is like to live in
Campton, NH and the Southern White Mountains Region we asked a few questions:
P&S: At this time, you feel the time is right to leave this beautiful neighborhood in Campton. What led you to the decision?
Sellers: We are "empty-nesters" who maintain another home on the Gulf Coast of Florida. It is time to downsize in New Hampshire. Our home has been the heart of multiple generations of our family and the time we have spent in this home have convinced us that we do not want to leave the area. So, although we will be leaving the address, we plan to move into another home in the Campton/Thornton area.
P&S: Why is it great to live in the Campton area? What do you enjoy about living in Campton?

Bretton Woods ski area[/caption]
Sellers: The Campton area has so much to offer people of all ages and interests. What attracted us originally to the
White Mountain Region, were the endless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. We are avid skiers, and the proximity to major ski areas such as
Waterville Valley,
Loon Mountain,
Cannon Mountain, and
Bretton Woods make this a perfect location.
Tenney Mountain is slated to reopen in 2015 and, for novices,
Campton Mountain is just up the road. We are in prime snowmobile country, close to many major well groomed corridors. There are miles of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. Hikers can enjoy sweeping vistas, waterfalls, the famous
Appalachian Trail, mountain huts, hidden lakes and babbling brooks. We enjoy time on the
Pemigewasset River kayaking and tubing. Golfers have a selection of local courses to try, including scenic
Owl's Nest, and a local favorite,
Jack O'Lantern. On a warm summer day, you just can't beat boating and swimming in the crystal clear waters of nearby lakes such as
Squam,
Newfound and
Winnipesaukee. In winter, the frozen lakes are dotted with ice fishing huts. A drive over the
Kancamangus highway is perfect for foliage viewing and spotting moose.
We love doing things with our families and friends! Here are some favorites:
Squam Lake Science Center
Cannon Mountain Tram
Clark's Trading Post
Whale's Tale Water Park
The Flume
Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves
Polar Caves Park
Mount Washington Cog Railway
Each season offers things to see and do; from maple sugaring in the spring, boating and hiking in summer, foliage drives in the fall and abundant winter sports. Campton is remote enough to feel like you can "get away from it all", but close enough to everything you could possible need or want.
P&S: Where do you shop and dine in the greater Campton community and why do you enjoy those places?

Six Burner Bistro in Plymouth, NH[/caption]
Sellers: There is a great local grocery store,
Campton Cupboard, with a good selection of staples, produce, meats and deli items. Plymouth, NH is a ten minute drive. There you can find options for groceries and general shopping, furniture, auto parts, pet supplies, etc.
A popular shopping destination is the
Tanger Outlet stores at Exit 20 off Interstate 93. At this exit, you can also find
Lowe's,
BJ's Wholesale Store,
The Home Depot,
Kohl's and more.
We enjoy dining out and find there are many places with excellent offerings.
The Italian Farmhouse is a favorite (one of the Common Man properties); you can enjoy classic Italian Fare in the rustic farmhouse or barn.
Six Burner Bistro offers up creative dining options in a comfortable setting. Our favorite take-out place is
Thai Smile - the best sushi and pad thai we've found! Waterfront dining is a short drive away at
Walter's Basin,
Town Docks or
The Lakehouse. For breakfast,
Benton's Sugar Shack offers the best fare around, set in an authentic sugaring house.
P&S: What do you look forward to the most when you came to your home in Campton?
Sellers: As we drive up I-93, the rolling hills of Plymouth come into view and are soon replaced by the distant peaks of the Presidential Range. We pass the "Entering the White Mountains" sign, take a deep breath and feel like we ate truly home. Crossing the bridge at the dam on Campton Pond, with the mountains reflected in the water, evokes one of the most peaceful, relaxing feelings in the world. We can choose how active to be, or simply soak in the surroundings right from the comfort of our own home.
