A Chat With Our Home Sellers in Franconia, NH

franconiaWe are pleased to bring a feature to our blog, a chat with one of our current sellers in Franconia, NH. Our homeowners at 104 Balancing Rock Road have owned their home for many years, and now offer this Architectural designed and Contractor built Post and Beam style home to you. This home is centrally located with views of Mt. Lafayette and Cannon Mountain and situated for spectacular sunrise and sunsets. The house was remodeled in 2012-2014 with a new kitchen, floor coverings, bathroom upgrades including tile showers, exterior and interior paint, light fixtures and state of the art appliances and much more. To get a sense of what is like to live in Franconia, New Hampshire we asked a few questions: P&S: At this time, you feel the time is right to leave the beautiful Franconia mountain community. What led you to this decision? Sellers: We have owned a construction company in the area for the last 22 years building our customers dream mountain homes in this very special place. We own a home in warmer climates now and want to do some traveling, so are embracing our gypsy souls to the road. Our intention is not to leave this area forever; our children and grandchildren live in this community and surrounding communities so we shall return for visits. P&S: Why is it great to live in a small mountain community? What did you enjoy about the Franconia area. [caption id="attachment_2833" align="alignleft" width="300"]franconia-2 Kitchen/Dining Area[/caption] Sellers: We have always embraced the outdoors and community atmosphere in Franconia; it is a place where most everyone knows you. When you stop in Mojo's coffee shop, the server remembers your name and how you like your coffee. Our children and grandchildren have been raised here and are a part of community committees and programs. Our sons own businesses and teach school in this community; it is like a big extended family. The bonus is the close proximity to all the outdoor recreation that we have spent our lives doing with our family and friends. P&S: Where do you shop and dine in the Franconia and outlying community and why do you enjoy those places? Sellers: First, we believe in supporting our local business owners so our shopping is mostly done at local shops like Mojo's coffee for warm drinks and food in the winter, and ice cream and pizza in the summer. For groceries we shop at the local farmers markets and The Littleton Food Coop, which is a shareholder owned (the customers) along with a few investors. You will find local farmers goods sold in the market. There are many boutiques, businesses and eating establishments located in the area. And Main Street in Littleton has won more than one accolade for being one of the best small town main streets in the country. P&S: What did you look forward to the most when you came to your home in Franconia?  franconiaSellers: Nature and community. There are lots of Moose, Bear, Deer and other critters that roam the 5+ acres we call our yard and the trail system behind the house. We have served on Boards and Committees in the area supporting the healthy and successful business of small town life, where people know you by name. And last but not least the outdoor recreation: skiing, mountain biking, hiking and cool swims in the clear lakes and streams in our region. P&S: What cultural events and other types of events can you recommend to people coming into the community? Sellers: Winter offers skiing of all types, snowshoeing, ice skating along with the social Apres' followed by dining in any area restaurant. There is sure to be something for everyone. You can find music winter and summer, festivals, County Fairs, many golf courses like the Maplewood, summer theaters like the Weathervane Theatre and 4 ski resorts in a 20 min radius offer activities even in the summer! P&S: What events brought you the most pleasure?  [caption id="attachment_2835" align="alignleft" width="300"]franconia Study[/caption] Sellers: We held two of our three sons weddings and receptions in our backyard overlooking the mountains under starry night skies (one of which included a rare glimpse of the Aurora Borealis). Skiing and all winter sports, hiking in the Presidential Mountain Range, attending music festivals, and sports and school programs for our grandchildren. And sitting on our deck at night looking out at the mountains at the end of a beautiful day knowing how fortunate we have been to live and work in such a magnificent place. P&S: What tips would you give to new people coming into the community?  Sellers: Get involved in the community, get to know the local people and businesses. Participate whenever and wherever you can. Don't miss any opportunity to roam the trails and backroads. Breathe deeply of the pine scented fresh mountain air and recreate, recreate, recreate. P&S: What were the favorite features of your home? What did you enjoy the most? [caption id="attachment_2836" align="alignleft" width="300"]franconia First Floor Layout[/caption] Sellers: Our first floor was designed and used for a gathering place. With its open vaulted post and beam construction from living room through to the dining room, the large entryway and kitchen opening to a three season screen porch and wrap around deck all designed for the mountain and nature views. Our state of the art kitchen with a wall size Corinthian granite fireplace to warm any and all we entertained many a Thanksgiving and Christmas crowd over the years. Our cozy study with a warm fire burning in the fireplace and walls of books to choose from and cushy chairs to curl up in and read.
