[caption id="attachment_2402" align="alignright" width="300"]Lancaster NH Home 208 Grange Road, Lancaster, NH[/caption] We are pleased to bring a new feature to our blog, a chat with one of our current sellers in Lancaster. Our homeowners at 208 Grange Road, Lancaster, NH  have owned their home for many years, and now offer this beautiful Cape style farm house that features quiet country living surrounded by farmland and forests, yet is only minutes away from Main Street to you. To get a sense of what is like to live in Lancaster, NH  we asked a few questions: P&S: Why do you feel the time is right to leave the beautiful of community of Lancaster, NH. What led you to this decision? Sellers: My wife and I originally relocated to this beautiful community nearly 15 years ago.  We had been in search of a friendly, safe and close knit community with a quality school system where we could raise a family.  This past year our daughter graduated from high school and is scheduled for enrollment at the University of New Hampshire this fall.  It was always very important for my wife to be home for our daughter at the end of each school day.  This led to her choosing to open and operate a successful home based business.  After raising and training six horses, my wife is now ready to competitively advance in the art of classical horsemanship.  It has been with much thought that we made the bittersweet decision to downsize our home and move to a smaller property. P&S: Why is it great to live in the Lancaster? What did you enjoy about the Lancaster area? [caption id="attachment_2403" align="alignright" width="300"]Lancaster NH home Downtown Lancaster[/caption] Sellers:  Lancaster is a quaint, picturesque and close knit community.  The main street offers both old and new sections, with careful planning and thought given to the preservation of important structures such as the beautiful Weeks Memorial Library, the old Court House and Centennial Park, site of farmers markets and other town-sponsored events.  Lancaster has their own regional hospital, Weeks Medical Center, as well as Police and Fire station.  The town has preserved their original movie theater, The Rialto, and expanded the menu of events by adding many community based activities.  Annual town events include the Lancaster Street Fair, the Lancaster Fair, 4th of July parades, and many local entertainers.  Lancaster has their own Elementary school (Lancaster Elementary School) and shares a Regional Vocational High School, (White Mountains Regional High School) with four other towns. P&S:  Where do you shop and dine in the Lancaster community and why do you enjoy those places? Sellers:  Lancaster offers all the basic modern conveniences including McDonalds , Dunkin Donuts, Family Dollar, Shaw's Supermarket and several restaurants.  Our favorite Lancaster restaurant is the Moonbeam Café, which is known for locally grown vegetables and homemade 'comfort food'.  Recently, Moonbeam Café' was recognized a Best of New Hampshire GrandThe Polish Princess Bakery is a favorite when in need of true homemade European breads.  Their sticky buns are utterly outstanding!  Simon the Tanner, also on Main Street, is our favorite outing store with high quality clothing for the entire family.   Scorpio's Pizzaria and Sports Pub is a favorite American food restaurant. P&S: What did you look forward to the most when you came to your home in Lancaster? [caption id="attachment_2404" align="alignright" width="300"]Lancaster NH Home 208 Grange Road, Lancaster, NH[/caption] Sellers:  We looked forward to living in a quiet country setting.  Even though Lancaster is the county seat of the northern most county of New Hampshire, Coos County, East and West sections of the town are home to open fields and active farms.  We were able to secure and restore a recently active farm in the agricultural district.  Both my wife and I were attracted to farming, yet my wife was mostly passionate for horses.  Ultimately, she was able to raise six horses whom we still own today.  This was a dream come true, especially given that we had rented an apartment in Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts for the past nine years of our lives. P&S: What cultural events and other types of events can you recommend to people coming into the community? Sellers:   We have enjoyed many cultural events in Lancaster and throughout the local region.  Organizations such as the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire in Littleton, St. Kieran Center for the Arts located in Berlin (a Best of New Hampshire Grand), The Weathervane Theater in Whitefield offer a wide array of arts and culture events.  Our daughter enjoyed sharing local highlights with foreign exchange students through the Exchange Program at White Mountain Regional High School.  In terms of other events, there were other Vocational High School Programs such as the Mountain View Academy partner with the local Mountain View Grand Hotel, a historic Grand Hotel of the White Mountains.   P&S:  What events brought you the most pleasure [caption id="attachment_2405" align="alignright" width="300"]Lancaster NH Home View from Franconia Range Trail[/caption] Sellers: Involvement in community events and activities was an important part the 'sense of community'.  We enjoyed local horse shows held at the Lancaster Fairgrounds and sponsored by the White Mountain Riding Club, involvement with the local 4-H club and volunteering with the local Boy Scouts troop.  Other favorites included the Summer Lecture series at Weeks State Park, hiking to the summit of Mount Cabot, spending the night in local camp grounds and special events sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club, also known as the AMC. Our daughter took advantage of many programs offered at her Vocational High School including Field Hockey, Youth and Government, Track, Future Career and Community Leaders of America and Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) at local schools. P&S:  What tips would you give to new people coming into the community? Sellers: As a newcomer to Lancaster, we would recommend that join in and get involved with local clubs, activities, attending local events, volunteer time at organization of your choice and/or join the local parent school organization.  Any of these activities will open doors and allow you to introduce yourself and meet others in Lancaster community.  P&S: What were the favorite features of your home? What did you enjoy the most? [caption id="attachment_2406" align="alignright" width="300"]Lancaster NH Home 208 Grange Road, Lancaster NH[/caption] Sellers:  The new homeowner has a truly 'unique' opportunity to own a piece of heaven including a local landmark know as the Great Rock.  This peaceful farmhouse is located 'Out East', at the foothills of Mount Cabot, and includes outstanding views of the Northern White Mountains of New Hampshire.  Crystal clear evenings allow for spectacular star gazing and intrigue for those with a peeking interest in astrology.  This home includes a cozy fireplace and wood stove, offers frequent wildlife sightings including those of moose, deer, and coyotes and has an accessible and practical barn built for horses or other livestock.
