**Update: We are sorry, this fine home has been purchased by a new owner, but we have others!

We are pleased to bring you a chat with one of our current sellers located at
27 Blackberry Lane in Lancaster, NH. They offer to you this nature lovers idyllic, perfectly located home for those who wish privacy, just one mile to downtown Lancaster, and/or who are looking for the perfect second home in the heart of the
Great North Woods/White Mountains of New Hampshire.
To get a sense of what is like to live in Lancaster, New Hampshire, we asked a few questions:
P&S: At this time, you feel the time is right to leave the beautiful, quintessential Lancaster community. What led you to this decision?
Seller: Our children grew up here and received an excellent education. They developed a love for nature, for the simple things in life, and an appreciation of the best New England has to offer. But alas, college, followed by excellent jobs, has led them to live elsewhere, for now, and I want to be closer to them and my grandchild. Someday, I hope to return and retire here!
P&S: Why is it great to live in the Town of Lancaster, NH? What did you enjoy about the North Country & Great North Woods?

Seller: What's not to enjoy! We have more 4-season activities literally at our door step than we could possibly want, from downhill skiing just minutes away, to unlimited lakes nearby, to cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, hiking, biking, horseback riding from our 4-stall barn, gourmet restaurants, culture, art, movies, theater, live music, fairs, antiquing, and the best pizza in New England. And yet we are nestled just to the west of the heart of the White Mountains, surrounded by magnificent forests, replete with Moose, Deer, Bobcat, Bears, Coyotes…it's like having a zoo in your backyard. And the education system is ranked
8th in New Hampshire by US News and World Reports! It's a perfect place to raise kids, to vacation, and/or to retire. And there's a great hospital,
Weeks Medical Center, with easy access to health care within a short distance! There's also a great library (
Weeks Memorial Library) , and Lancaster is the County Seat, so law enforcement is always available if you need help.
P&S: Where do you shop and dine in Lancaster community and why do you enjoy those places?
Seller: Lancaster and the surrounding towns offer a wonderful variety of restaurants, and small boutiques, as well as the larger box stores within a ½ hr drive. We can choose from the best Pizza Pub, to the wonderful and nationally recognized, gourmet "
The Moon Beam Café," and of course, there's always McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts when you need it! Quite honestly, living up here offers a sense of peace that doesn't come with strip malls and big shopping centers. And there is always the occasional road trip to
Tilton, NH for outlet shopping or Concord if we need a
Steeplegate Mall fix!
P&S: What did you look forward to the most when you came to your home?

Seller: Depending on the season…In the fall, the aromatic smells, and gorgeous colors of Autumn's blessings; In winter, the quietness of snow falling all around, blanketing the earth with a sparkling cover of white fluff, and sitting in our hot tub, under the winter's clear, star studded sky after a day of skiing, watching shooting stars, and being totally relaxed, knowing we were surrounded by the privacy and beauty of our own land. In spring…the gradual rebirth of such amazing greenery and lush forests, with the scent of new plant growth, all giving way to the anticipation of summers' unlimited selection of activities. In summer, anticipating a kayak adventure on one of the local lakes, knowing we will most likely see a Loon, and an Eagle or Osprey, or both, then anticipating jumping in the water to cool off, or a lazy round of golf on a course surrounded by the most beautiful views you can imagine, then a cocktail on the veranda of
The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa, followed by award winning repertoire theater at the
Weathervane Theater, just down the road. And the occasional road trip to the beaches on
the New Hampshire coast. There is so much to do, and not enough time to do it all!
P&S: What cultural events and other types of events can you recommend to people coming into the community?
Seller: The North Country offers everything from Museums, like the
New England Ski Museum where you can view Bode Miller's Olympic medals, to Community Theater like the
Colonel Town Players, where community members can participate, to Movie Theaters, like the
Rialto Theatre and
Jax Jr. Cinemas. In addition, there are cultural events all around, concerts, an abundance of a variety of Nationally known performers visit the area throughout the year; choral groups, Childrens' theater,
Farmers Markets in every town, Town and State Fairs,
Santa's Village, Concerts on the Green, athletic events and races… and so much more!
P&S: What events brought you the most pleasure?
Seller: At some point, they all bring pleasure, depending on the mood, the activity and the season!
P&S: What tips would you give to new people coming into the community?
Seller: Leave your troubles behind, come with an open and enthusiastic mind, and don't be afraid to jump right in to community activities, events and volunteerism. There's plenty to go around! Take advantage of all this magnificent North Country has to offer. And enjoy letting go of the day's stresses by sitting out on the wrap-around deck, or in the screened-in gazebo as you put your feet up, sip on your favorite beverage, and soothe your busy mind. In your perfect, new home
on Blackberry Lane!
P&S: What were the favorite features of your home? What did you enjoy the most?

Seller: Wow…hard to narrow it down. This house has been our home for almost 21 years, and it seems to keep giving! I think the two biggest factors that we are so enthusiastic about are the privacy, yet close proximity to town. We could walk, bike, rollerblade to town and some of our neighbors would snowmobile into town. (Yet, you can't hear them. It's sooo quiet here!)
In terms of the inside of the home, we always found it was the perfect size, with lots of bathrooms, so no one has to wait! And it's so open and airy and welcoming to all who enter it. The open main floor concept with so many windows gives a feeling of connection. We love to cook, and the kitchen has more counter space than we know what to do with, with cabinet's galore! Our dog and our children were safe to roam, explore, create, build, camp, picnic, and party. With all the privacy, all the land that surrounds us and the wild animals that visit us, we are so close to everything we could possibly want. This property is truly a piece of heaven on earth, and it will be sad to say goodbye!
