In this post we chat with one of our current sellers in Ashland. Our homeowners at 8 Nash Drive in Ashland have owned their home for many years, and now offer this beautiful, cared for home to you! To get a sense of what it is like to live in Ashland, we asked a few questions:
P&S: At this time, you feel the time is right to leave the beautiful Ashland community. What led you to this decision?
Sellers: We're not leaving the Ashland community, we intend to remain in Ashland, but are looking for another home to grow into.
P&S: Why is it great to live in the Lakes and Mountain Region? What did you enjoy about the Ashland area.
Sellers: The area here is so beautiful and peaceful, yet it's close enough to everything the larger cities have. And not to far to drive if you want to go the
Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester for a show, a
Monarch's game , or the
Ringling Brothers Circus in the fall!
P&S: Where do you shop and dine in the community and why do you enjoy those places?
Sellers: We've shopped anywhere from North Conway down towards the
Tanger Outlets in Tilton. In downtown Ashland, when I'm looking for a unique gift for someone I enjoy going to the
Common Man Store on Main Street in Ashland – I can always find a great gift there. In terms of florist, there is a great flower shop in town –
Mountain Laurel Flower Shop.
For groceries, I enjoy shopping at Bob's Shur-Fine Market in downtown Ashland – an easy place to pick up groceries and get them home quickly! In terms of dining, there are a lot of family owned restaurants in the area that are wonderful that we enjoy eating at. They include places like
The Village Pizza & Grill right by the
Ashland Elementary school and we also frequent different restaurants in nearby
Plymouth.
P&S: What did you look forward to the most when you came to your home in Ashland?
Sellers: The large yard was perfect and we also liked that the home was off the beaten path so to speak, and not too close to a busy road – that was important to all of us. We also love the open concept of our homes layout and have spent many holidays entertaining numerous guests – it's great because you have plenty of space and can see everyone and enjoy your time together.
P&S: What events and other types of events can you recommend to people coming into the community?
Sellers: The town of Ashland hosts parades, fireworks and many types of other events for various holidays, as well as town yard sales, movies, and lots of programs during the summer months for children. The town beach is also a great way to cool off in the hot summer months, and is about a 5 minute drive.
P&S: What events brought you the most pleasure?
Sellers: We look forward to Ashland's fireworks every year around the Fourth of July. They're absolutely stunning.
P&S: What tips would you give to new people coming into the community?
Sellers: To just take in everything the Lakes Region and Central NH has to offer. From the attractions like the
Polar Caves Park in the spring and summer to winter things like skiing at
Waterville Valley , its such a special place!
P&S: What were the favorite features of your home? What did you enjoy the most?
Sellers: We love the open concept and first floor laundry. Our master bedroom and bathroom was another favorite of ours, along with the location, school system and peacefulness of this area. That's why we're still going to live in Ashland, and seeking a larger home for our growing family needs.
P&S: What else do you love about Ashland?
Sellers: Well there are so many recreational opportunities for young and old alike. In Ashland, for the kids, there is a great soccer program, a recreation program for the kids in the
summer at the park . They get to go on field trips, the beach and more!
With regards to the Ashland Elementary School, they have started a new program this year called "Tiered Learning". While I'm not an expert in it, from what I understand, it tailors the students level to the proper class…so if you have a student who may be a bit more advanced in math, they will be in that math class which may include older students. If you have a student that may need a little help in reading, they may be with another group who is at their reading level, but not necessarily in the same grade. For a small school, I think this is very proactive, this paced learning initiative. In 2007,
Ashland was named a School of Excellence, and with these initiatives you can see why. They are always ahead of the curve in trying new things, and the results speak for themselves. The teachers are great, and since they see the kids from grades K-8, they really get to know each one – it's a very special environment – and just another reason we plan to stay in Ashland!
